In 2013, Streets Alive celebrates FIVE YEARS of presenting art on the street. We’re marking this milestone with Letters of Orillia, which will feature up to 50 metal sculptures of letters of the alphabet. The letters are 6 feet in height and weigh up to 200 pounds. Artists will receive their letter primed grey and embellish this blank canvas with designs that, if their past output is anything to go by, will create a huge “Wow!” on the street.
The finished sculptures will be unveiled on June 22, 2013, when the public will have the first opportunity to view and vote on their favourites. The sculptures will remain on display all summer on Mississaga Street in downtown Orillia and be open to voting. We will be awarding a minimum of $10,000 as prize money, based on a combination of People’s Choice voting and Juried Art rankings, toward the end of August.
