On the street

The 2016 ‘Story Pole’ project is in full swing with 32 fabulous sculptures on display on the street in downtown Orillia until Thanksgiving weekend.

You are invited to visit our city to do a walking tour of the five downtown blocks to take in each story pole and discover the creative story behind each.

We encourage you to participate in the project by casting your vote for your top three favourite sculptures. A $10,000 prize is up for grabs!

Voting ballots are available at three downtown locations: Jack & Maddy – A Kids’ Store (143 Mississaga Street East), the Orillia Museum of Art & History (30 Peter Street South), and Carousel Collectables (27 Mississaga Street West).

The top three winners of the 2016 Story Pole project will be announced August 20 at 8 pm on Peter Street South during the wonderful Starry Night Studio & Gallery Tour. We are looking forward to the celebration.

Take a piece of the project home!
Souvenir guidebooks are also available at the voting locations. Your purchase of the commemorative behind-the-scenes book helps support future Streets Alive projects.

Prowl for past projects
In addition to the Story Pole sculptures, you will see all kinds of great public art in Orillia, including stunning works from previous Streets Alive projects, like the eight-foot-tall painted metal letters in front of the library that spell out the word STORY, the artistic Leacock Chairs in the courtyard of the restaurant Era 67, and giant painted guitars in various spots around town.
